Pietrosfight.org hosted our second annual children’s event, “Bump, Crash and Smash DMD”, on Friday June 6th at Adventurer’s Family Entertainment Center, the old “Nelly Bly”. The turnout was a huge success with over 425 kids and parents coming out to support Pietrosfight.org. Every parent being there leading by example, teaching our children to support one another and our community. Because of all of our fighters and supporters who have been battling with us from day one, this disease is well on its way from being a fatal disease with no hope to a chronic disease that can be slowed down while a cure is found. Senator Marty Golden and Congressman Michael Grimm joined us that evening to hold a press conference and speak on the progress of the drug Sarepta that this community has helped fund. Pietrosfight.org has been waiting for answers from the FDA for almost two years now on approval for a drug called Eteplirsen that would help boys with DMD. The FDA has finally heard our voices and Sarepta announced that the FDA will accept a New Drug Application and will still consider Accelerated Approval for Eteplirsen . They will also allow the company to open a new trial for younger boys which Pietro will be eligible for.
