Fight Night Round V - Pietro vs. DMD March 9th 2017

Thank you to everyone who took part in our fifth annual FIGHT NIGHT ROUND V, at the El Caribe on March 9th. This year was extremely special because it is the first year in five years we have hope. It has been five years since the inception of Pietrosfight and within five years’ doctors are now telling parents with children diagnose with DMD we have options. Medicine is on the brink of a breakthrough. Today there over a dozen clinical trials; five years ago, there was not one. We all come out to Fight Night to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and most importantly to celebrate Pietro Joseph Scarso. The outreach we receive from our donors, our families and our friends truly blows us away.

This year we honored four special people: Mr. Rocco Coluccio Jr. of Menny Memories and Coluccio & Sons with the “The Love Fighter Award”. It was through his DJ Entertainment business that fate would bring him to our family and soon become a very big part of our fight to end DMD. Rocco is always there for us willing to help and do whatever he can for his buddy Pietro. If you ask Rocco what he is doing this week it is different last. He is always looking for new ventures and new ways to broaden his horizons. He talks about Pietro to whomever he meets. And is always looking for new ways for us to raise awareness and find a cure to keep his buddy here forever. Mr. Antonio Alaimo of Villabate Bakery with “The Cure Fighter Award” It was our first event and Antonio reached out to us and said how can I help? What can I do? Your son is too cute. I’m coming to the event I’m baking the cake and it’s going to be great. And that has been Antonio since day one of Pietrosfight. He is a decorated Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, Antonio attended the Institute of Culinary Education, obtaining his diploma in Pastry and Baking Arts. Today, Antonio is a managing partner at Villabate Alba Pasticceria & Bakery L.L.C. and works with multiple charitable organizations throughout the community. Thank you so much Antonio for all your support throughout the years.

Ms. Maria Castellano of Ben Bay Realty with the “The Ultimate Fighter Award”. Maria is a prominent business woman whose diverse skills and capabilities have fostered her growth in numerous areas of expertise. Her passion for real estate is contagious and her dedication to the community is manifested in her work. Maria has proved to be an extremely valuable asset to Ben Bay Realty Company and continues to prove her powerful essence of character in the business world. Maria is such a breath of fresh air, always smiling and laughing. Since our first event, she contacted Samantha and said she wanted to help and be involved in every way. And that she has. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support.

And last but certainly not least Mr. Mr. Charles Fabbella of Ben Bay Realty - “The Ultimate Fighter Award”. Charles Fabbella is a well-known Real Estate Professional and Business man in the New York area with over 15 years experience. Charles manages the careers of 60+ agents, provides stable jobs, helps families find homes and helps businesses & builders obtain commercial sites in which they need to succeed, and has made it a point to always give back to the communities he serves. Charles loves and prides himself in what he does so much that he was able to trademark the phrase “Specializing in all your Real Estate needs®” and “Life. It’s how you live it®”. His true passion is real estate & giving back.

A special THANK YOU to Senator Golden, who has been fighting with us day after day, side by side since day one. His commitment to this foundation is truly remarkable and we can’t thank him enough. Pietro is just in love with him. Bay Ridge is lucky to have a leader that truly cares about his community.

Our family, and now yours, has embarked on this mission of love, vowing to fight for a cure. It is our FIGHT that these boys will have a future and live a normal life and do great things. It is our FIGHT that you will read this and think of ways to continue FIGHTING with us. It is our FIGHT to find a CURE. Our job is far from done. Help us give more money to new treatments.
