PJ’s for PJ
The Fourth Annual PJs for PJ, community-wide pajama* day, will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017!
After three successful years of participation from schools across New York, PJs for PJ is expanding its reach! This year, we invite offices and corporations to join us in the fight against DMD.
Pietrosfight was created to raise awareness and funds for potential treatments and hope of a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Pietro was part of a clinical trial of a drug named Exdonys, previously called Eteplirsen, which was the first treatment approved by the FDA for DMD. Pietro is currently receiving an infusion once a week as apart of his Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy treatment.
This year we are funding Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Therapeutics - DMD-813, a start-up biotech company that is developing proprietary therapeutics for DMD. DMD is an orphan disease associated with serious morbidity and early mortality that has a major unmet need. DMD-813 has been shown to reduce damage and inflammation in muscle leading to markedly increased muscle strength in the standard mouse model of DMD (mdx mice). Further studies have documented significant increases in the ability of treated animals to ambulate long distances, which is important given that DMD boys become wheelchair bound due to loss of ambulation. DMD-813 dramatically rescues muscle function and pathology in the standard animal model of DMD demonstrating its potential to improve muscle health in patients with this devastating disease. We believe this can be a treatment that can change the lives of DMD boys.
We thank you for joining us in previous years and hope you to see you participate this year.
