This year it was so lovely to look out into the room and see a room filled with familiar faces that have been there with us for the last four years and some new faces of those who attended the event for the first time. We are excited that you have joined in on this mission of love, this fight for a cure. We all come out to Fight Night to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but most importantly to celebrate Pietro Joseph Scarso. The outreach we receive from our donors, our families and our friends truly blows us away. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our Fight Sponsors. Without your continued support, we would not be able to have such a successful event and raise funds to put in the hands of researchers and doctors with promising treatment for DMD

This year we honored two special people. Mr. Frank Naccarato of the Federation of Italian American Organization & Kiwanis Club of Brooklyn was awarded “The Love Fighter Award.” It is not a surprise he has received several awards in the past such as “Man of the Year” and “Business Leadership Man of the Year Award”. Frank joined in our fight and is always looking for ways to help us. He works hard to ensure that our community remains strong and viable for future generations.

We also honored Michael Cama of Investors Bank with “The Ultimate Fighter Award”. Michael and Samantha have a friendship that goes back almost 15 years and when it started, they would have never thought that all these years later they would be able to use the power of friendship for a greater cause. Michael is an extraordinary guy with a huge heart and we couldn’t thank him enough for all that he does for Pietrosfight.

A big Thank You goes out to Bay Ridge Honda for donating a brand new Honda Accord to be raffled off year after year. Their commitment toPietrosfight.org is helping change the future and improve the lives of all boys with DMD.

 A special Thank You to Senator Golden, who fights with us day after day, side by side since day one. His commitment to this foundation is truly remarkable and we can’t thank him enough. Bay Ridge is lucky to have a leader that truly cares about his community.

 A warm Thank You to everyone who placed an advertisement in our journal, donated a raffle, or spent their time volunteering at one of our events. The upbeat entertainment was led by DJ Steven Retas from SR Entertainment. Last but certainly not least, thank you to all of the PIETRO’S FIGHT VOLUNTEERS. You make this evening come to life. You all know who you are and we cannot thank you enough. Pietro has the best support team a boy could ask for. We also recognized three special women that evening, Daniela, Lori Bambina and Angela Athineos. These three ladies have been with us since day one, supporting all of our events and having fun doing it.

After every successful event we celebrate how far we have come, the advancements we have made, and the hope that exists. Our family, and now yours, has embarked on this mission of love, vowing to fight for a cure. It is our FIGHT that these boys will have a future and live a normal life and do great things. It is our FIGHT that you will leave here tonight and think of ways to continue FIGHTING with us. It is our FIGHT to find a CURE. On behalf of all boys and families facing a DMD, we thank you.
